Bolt
Pride values family and having a great time - Bolt Pride is about
enjoying life and sharing life together. This is why the American
Cancer Society is very important to the Bolt Pride.
The
American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary
health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health
problem by:
-
preventing cancer,
- saving
lives,
- and
diminishing suffering from cancer,
through:
- research,
-
education,
- advocacy,
- and
service.
The
Bolt Pride is honored to partner with the American Cancer Society
(ACS) in promoting cancer awareness. This partnership was inspired
by the recent personal experiences of our own extended Bolt Pride
family - our love and prayers go out to our family members in their
personal fight against breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate
cancer. Sports - and especially Charger football, are an outlet
for fans. The games give us a short break from everyday life. But
we can never forget how precious and fragile life really is. Cancer
is an evil that threatens our loved ones. This is the lesson we
learn from our extended family. We all have a responsibility to
remain vigilant, be informed and do our part in the fight against
cancer.
An
immediate example from the NFL is Gene
Upshaw, Hall of Famer and Executive Director of the players'
union - who died of pancreatic cancer only 4 days following detection.
To
learn about cancer programs, services & volunteer opportunities,
and to get information about cancer, please visit the American
Cancer Society web site at www.cancer.org
or call the 24-hour information line at 1-800-ACS-2345.
Bolt
Pride's own Crysta Lopez (crystalopez@gmail.com) is the chairperson
for the San Marcos Relay for Life scheduled for May 1, 2010. Stay
tuned for details on how to join the Relay for Life. Crysta will
need the support of the extended Bolt Pride family.
Special
thanks to the ACS - San Diego staff for their outstanding support.
Thanks
to all and may God bless you and yours.
Sincerely,
Alvarez
Bolt Pride Founder and Leader
